For the last 13 years ( if my memory serves me well ) I have been using these monitors for all my studio work , including mixing , producing , radio show recordings and more .

Before I get into my in depth review heres some technical specifications of the Behringer Truth Monitors B2031A :

  • Ultra-linear frequency response from 50 Hz to 21 kHz with individual frequency diagrams

  • Built-in 265-Watt Bi-amp module with enormous power reserve

  • Ultra-high resolution ferrofluid-cooled tweeter

  • Long-throw 8 ¾" woofer with special polypropylene diaphragm and deformation-resistant aluminum die-cast chassis

  • Controlled dispersion characteristics and extremely large “sweet spot” owing to the unique Behringer waveguide technology

  • Active crossover network with 4th order Linkwitz-Riley filters

  • Adjustable to a wide range of acoustic conditions and subwoofer operation

  • Separately controlled limiter for low and high frequency overload protection

  • Automatic standby mode (defeatable)

  • Magnetic shielding allows placement near computer monitors

  • Servo-balanced inputs with XLR and ¼” TRS connectors

  • 3-Year Warranty Program*

Seeing as I have been using these monitors for over 13 years , means I have thoroughly tried and tested these bad boys to their utmost maximum . I have changed my studio twice meaning I’ve had the chance to hear how they work according to different environments and in both cases they worked excellently . They are really sleek , beautiful to look at and heavy , weighing in at just under 15 kg each. Personally I find that the weight shows the quality of these monitors. Speaking of build quality, the woofer and tweeter are encased in a beautiful black wooden box which has a nice gloss finish to it making them look super cool. The monitor itself has a massive 8 inch woofer and in all honesty , with regards to subb and bass , you wont need a separate subwoofer they really push out nice and warm low end frequencies making it easy to mix your low end and listen to tracks which have a punchy bass and/or kick.

When it comes to the high end of the frequency spectrum, on the monitor you’ll find an 1.0" ferrofluid-cooled tweeter making all those high end frequencies come out crisp and solid .

They also push out an excellent stereo image reproduction and have a wide "sweet spot" , so mixing on these speakers are a breeze.

No need for amps as they are amplified pushing out 265 ultra-clean Watts of output . The woofer and tweeter are amplified individually to bring out the best in signal integrity. The monitors an be connected by either XLR or ¼" TRS however according to your sound card or mixer.

I used them as near field monitors for producing and mixing , and seeing as I had used them in different environments ( with regards to room sound treatment for each scenario ) I can tell you that they perform absolutely phenomenal . Seeing as they’re active monitors , it’s just plug and play. On the reverse side of each monitor you’ll find panel filter switches to adapt the monitor’s low- and high-frequency characteristics for optimal performance – to be able to adjust to your liking and to your listening environment . When I had changed studios all I did was adjust the low,mid and high frequency switches according to how how my listening environment was , and the end result was perfect crisp sounds coming from the monitors . Another added bonus are room compensation switches which can be used according to your speaker placement. If you’re going to place them against walls, or even in corners, the B2031A TRUTH monitors are custom-tailored to provide honest bass response for your situation, with the simple flick of a switch or two.

What’s also pretty cool about these monitors is the ‘mute’ control switch , which automatically turns the monitors off when no sound is being pushed out after a minute or two . And when sound is being sent to the speakers , they’ll automatically turn themselves back on again.

I’ve also used the monitors as reference monitors when it comes to mixing my radio shows , I’ve never been happier. For us DJs ,when it comes to mixing, we always want that heavy low end that comes from a subwoofer and nice bright high end without muddy mid range frequencies and with mixing using these monitors it was a dream and you get nice ‘club’ vibe sound really pushing out quality sounds.

I have only ever used one pair of monitors in my life and they’re these monitors. I’ve never needed to replace any part nor have I had any problem with them whatsoever. Having been using them daily for over 13 years is truly a statement to the quality and build design from Behringer. There are alot of other monitors in similar price range but those are usually monitors with 5 inch woofers and are not as well designed as these. I cannot express just how much I love these monitors and how happy I have been using them for all these years, they most definitely have stood the test of time and by the look of things , I probably will never need to purchase another set of studio monitors .
